Mark Churella, Sr.

Mark Churella, is president and chief executive officer of The FDI Group Family of Companies. Mark oversees the strategic direction of the Novi-based insurance industry support services company. As president, he oversees the development and implementation of the enterprise investment strategy and provides direction to leadership functions and business organizations to meet the enduring needs of our customers in the United States and around the world.

Prior to this positon, Mark was appointed President and CEO of Financial Designs, Inc. in 1988. Under his leadership the FDI Group was established in 1990 to serve as the controlling entity of the growing number of companies. Today, there are nine affiliates thriving under the FDI Group umbrella which exemplifies his commitment of creative business development to bring the best solutions, the best people and the best service to the marketplace.

Mark entered into the industry in 1984 as an insurance agent in the family owned agency of Financial Designs, Inc. which was founded by his father, Robert G. Churella, Sr. in 1970.

A native of Farmington Hills, MI, Mark earned a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan in 1979. As a student at the University of Michigan he competed in wrestling and became the Universities only 3-time NCAA Champion. He is married and has three children.

Mark Churella, Jr.

Mark Churella Jr. is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of George B. Ford Agency, Inc. (GBF). Appointed to this post in 2008, Mark holds overall executive responsibility for customer relationship management, expanding the company’s long‐term strategic business pipeline, driving growth, and executive oversight of program execution across the enterprise. Before his role as EVP/COO, Mark was a Producer for GBF from 2004-2008; specializing in writing business for property & casualty and personal lines accounts.

Prior to GBF, Mark joined CompOne Administrators in 2003, a member of the FDI Group of companies. Holding the position of executive account manager, he was responsible for providing technical support to sales team members; specifically in analyzing client needs, coverage forms and quotations as well as review audits of policies; verify accuracy, as needed, between client and carrier.

As Executive Vice President, Mark is a member of The FDI Group executive board. He is intimately involved with the promotion of business continuity and innovation initiatives; to include the designing of customer service oriented improvement processes, identification of business acquisition opportunities and fostering strategic relationships.

Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 2002. He and his family reside in the greater South Lyon, MI area.

Bruce Stubbs

Bruce Stubbs is executive vice president and chief operating officer of The FDI Group claims management companies; ManageAbility, CompOne Administrators, and Startech Software. Bruce is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate people, processes and tools are in place to enable delivery of services and for building a culture of continuous improvement within the companies. As executive vice president, he integrates work across the core operations and quality assurance operations, and coordinates with other functions including Information Technology, and Risk Management, to support business success and provide value to customers.

Bruce began his career with The FDI Group of companies as vice president of sales in February 2005. He led efforts in sales and business development and was an integral member in the financial planning and reporting, pricing, estimating and cost management activities within the claims management companies. In 2006, Bruce was appointed to the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Bruce joined ASU Group-Recovery Unlimited as an account executive in 1991. During his fourteen years, he held a number of posts finishing his tenure as vice president of sales in 2005. His experience included Managed Care Products, Independent Adjusting Services and Claims Administration in the P & C Insurance markets.

Bruce entered into the industry in 1988 as an account executive for work recovery, a rehabilitation and vocational provider.

Bruce is a member of the Knights of Columbus and spends his free time volunteering to help disabled children. He is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Services having served as a Military Police Officer. Bruce is a father of three children and is a native of the Chelsea, Michigan area.

Ryan Churella

As a member of the leadership team, Ryan manages a number of organization-wide processes and activities, driving seamless “FDI Group” strategies and execution across the enterprise. As vice president of operations, he shares in the day-to-day oversight and support of the CompOne, ManageAbility and Startech business affiliates and focuses on specific growth enablers, including provision performance, important national and global relationships, and leadership initiatives.

Prior to being appointed to his current position, Ryan served as Account Executive for CompOne Administrators. As an Account Executive he worked closely with self-insured employers helping them reduce risk and overall exposure by implementing industry best practices, medical cost containment processes, and RTW programs.

During the past five years, Ryan played a leadership role in the expansion of technology engagement and presence and was instrumental in the successful implementation of numerous corporate initiatives to ensure stability and continuity in service to the client.

Ryan is passionate about providing solutions to his clients and building upon the company started by his Grandfather and Father almost 45 years ago. Ryan earned a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan. At the University of Michigan he was a 3-time NCAA All-American in wrestling and 3-time NCAA Academic All-American.

Fred Holland

With over thirty years of experience in the insurance industry, starting through an executive training program for a management company of seven insurance companies in New York, Mr. Holland has had the opportunity to be involved with the large, alphabet insurance brokers such as Marsh, Philadelphia, PA. and Fred S. James of Michigan where he was Vice President and served on the Executive Committee. Fred specialized in large commercial accounts including Fortune 500 and self-insured companies.

Fred later joined a private insurance agency in Birmingham, Michigan as a minority owner and Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Group and Association Insurance programs were a major focus for this agency. During this period, Mr. Holland also introduced the Alternative Funding concept to the agency and wrote accounts into the Rent-a-Captive markets.

Fred formed the company Alternative Risk Services, Ltd. In 1995 ARS created an agency Rent-a-Captive that focused on homogenous groups and successfully placed their commercial business within this program as well as the continuation of working with self-insured clients in both the private and public sector. Mr. Holland has consulted and negotiated alternative funding programs successfully on behalf of clients and other insurance agents.

Mr. Holland joined the FDI Group as an executive with FDI Risk Managers and continues to specialize in the Alternative Funding programs including but not limited to: Captives, Rent-a-Captives, Self-Insurance, Pooled programs and Fronted programs.

Fred holds a Michigan Agent Insurance License for Property & Casualty, Michigan Insurance Counselor License, Michigan Surplus Lines Agent License. He is Certified and a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, the Society of Certified Professional Insurance Agents and a member of the Michigan Licensed Insurance Counselors Association.

Carol Ann Fausone

Carol Ann holds the position of Government Affairs Officer. She is a member of the company’s Executive Team. General Fausone joined The FDI Group in 2015 and leads the company’s government affairs and public policy efforts, including all U.S. federal, state and local government liaison operations.

Prior to joining The FDI Group, General Fausone served in the US Air Force for 36 years, in support of military operations for all branches of the armed forces. From 2003-2011 she served as the Assistant Adjutant General of Veterans Affairs, for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, State of Michigan advocating for Veterans.

From 2001-2005, General Fausone served as the Assistant for Mobilization and Reserve Affairs working directly with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, Force Health Protection and Readiness. Serving in this capacity, she assisted in developing and implementing programs, policy, and operations for Reserve Affairs.

General Fausone graduated from college in 1975 and in 1977 received her commission in the United States Air Force as a medical officer. She served on active duty in various nursing staff positions. In late 1981 she transferred to the Michigan Air National Guard and served at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in various staff and command positions. In 1995, Fausone transferred to the 110th Medical Squadron, Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, MI and was assigned as the medical squadron commander. In January 1998, Fausone was selected as the Air National Guard assistant to the Air Combat Command nurse at Langley Air Force Base, VA, and served as liaison between the Air National Guard and the Air Combat Command providing guidance for medical training, policies and programs.

Michael S. Cafferty

Michael Cafferty is general counsel for The FDI Group. He oversees the legal affairs of the corporation, including litigation and transactional matters, with a focus on compliance issues and health care law. He also manages governance and regulatory compliance for the Board of Directors and is responsible for the various ethics and internal governance programs implemented by The FDI Group and its related companies.

Michael graduated Magna cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in 1984 as was elected by the faculty to the Order of the Coif, an academic honor society for law graduates. Prior to attending Law School, Michael completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, where he graduated with High Distinction in 1981.

Michael has attained the highest possible rating (“A-V”) from Martindale-Hubbell, the most recognized national authority for peer review evaluations of attorneys.
